About Us

Organizational Profile

The Chester & Area Family Resource Centre is a grass-roots organization which began in the summer of 1994 with the cooperation of the Public Health Department. A group of new parents volunteered to organize a New Parents Group where children and parents came together once a month for socalizing. The group was extremely popular and added a weekly playgroup. After a telephone needs assessment in the winter of 1995, the respondents indicated a Family Resource Centre would be supported by the community. The group formally incorporated in 1995 as a non-profit organization and charitable status was granted in 1998 by the Government of Canada. The organization has always been run by a volunteer board of directors who are elected at the Annual General Meeting each September.
